About the event
The First Edition of Marabu Dance Festival
Sunday - 1st November 2026 at Bankstown Arts Centre @ 4pm - 7.30pm
Marabu will be an annual festival, presented on the first weekend of November. The idea of the festival is that it will act as a thread connecting the past, shaping the present and inspiring the future of Bharatanatyam in Sydney.
The festival creates a space to celebrate dedicated dancers, platform exceptional artists and present Bharatanatyam alongside live musicians, honouring both tradition and the evolving journeys of its practitioners.
This edition will have performances by Vaidehi Subramanyan from 4pm - 5.30pm and myself (Christopher) from 6pm - 7.30pm - both accompanied by 2 teams of wonderful Sydney based musicians.
I hope this festival has a lasting impact and continues for many editions, creating opportunities for dancers who deserve to be seen, both emerging artists and exceptional dancers from across Australia.
See you there!
